When She Used To Call
[Lyrics & Music – Micke Wennborn]

He sits by the phone
Like it’s some kind of shrine
Counting the hours
The minutes unwind
Her voice used to fill up
The cracks in his walls
But now there’s a silence
A deafening tone
She’s dialing a number
That’s not his own

When she used to call
He felt ten feet tall
Now the echoes are cruel
They don’t answer at all
She’s whispering secrets
To somebody new
And he’s left holding shadows
Of what he once knew

The coffee’s gone cold
But he still takes a sip
Her laughter once sweet
Now’s a ghost on his lips
He rewinds the past
Like a broken old tape
But rewinding won’t fix it
It won’t change the tune
She’s playing a melody
Meant for someone new

When she used to call
He felt ten feet tall
Now the echoes are cruel
They don’t answer at all
She’s whispering secrets
To somebody new
And he’s left holding shadows
Of what he once knew
When she used to call
He felt ten feet tall
Now the echoes are cruel
They don’t answer at all
She’s whispering secrets
To somebody new
And he’s left holding shadows
Of what he once knew
She’s whispering secrets
To somebody new

About The Song

When She Used To Call is a song about absence disguised as routine.

Nothing dramatic happens in the story. There are no arguments, no confrontations and no final scenes. Instead, the song focuses on something much quieter: the disappearance of a habit that once meant everything.

The narrator finds himself trapped between memory and reality. The phone remains where it has always been. The coffee is still poured. The days continue to pass. Yet something essential is missing. The calls that once brought comfort, excitement and connection have stopped.

At the centre of the song is the realization that people often miss more than a person. They miss the feeling that person created. The sense of being wanted. The anticipation. The certainty that someone somewhere was thinking about them.

As the song progresses, the narrator begins to understand that the silence itself carries a message. The calls have not simply stopped. They have gone somewhere else. The conversations, the laughter and the shared moments now belong to another chapter and perhaps another person.

At its heart, When She Used To Call is a song about the small routines that become part of who we are, and the emptiness that remains when those routines quietly disappear.

Om Låten

When She Used To Call är en låt om frånvaro förklädd till vardag.

Ingenting dramatiskt händer i berättelsen.

Men något viktigt saknas.

Laulu kohta

“When She Used To Call” räägib puudumisest, mis maskeerib end igapäevaeluks.

Telefon on endiselt samas kohas. Kohv valatakse ikka tassi. Päevad liiguvad edasi nagu varemgi. Kuid midagi olulist on kadunud.

Need on liikunud mujale.

Sest mõnikord ei igatse me ainult inimest.

Me igatseme seda, kes me olime siis, kui ta veel helistas.
